Summer Reading

The Bible, The Bible. We love the Bible. It is God's book. We will be careful as we turn the pages. It is God's book.

Last night Alex, Campbell & I started reading the Bible. The Children's Bible. We decided to start from the beginning and maybe by the end of the summer, we'll make it through the whole thing. It is wild the questions that start flowing out of a five year olds mouth. I can tell I'll be learning a lot too.

Last Sunday, I taught Conleigh's 1st grade Sunday school class. Saturday night I told her we were going to be talking about a man named Saul. She went on to tell me about how he was really mean and didn't like Jesus and then he was blinded. Jimminy! She knew more than I did fifteen minutes earlier. So, okay, they had already learned that part of the story. I was to continue the story where he meets Ananias and is given his sight back and becomes one of the strongest Christians in Bible times. My 'cheat sheet' suggested breaking the group into 4 smaller ones and have them act out the verses.
Conleigh & her partner Hayden had the below verses. They did so well!!

Acts 9: 17-19
17Then Ananias went to the house and entered it. Placing his hands on Saul, he said, "Brother Saul, the Lord—Jesus, who appeared to you on the road as you were coming here—has sent me so that you may see again and be filled with the Holy Spirit." 18Immediately, something like fish scales fell from Saul's eyes, and he could see again. He got up and was baptized, 19and after taking some food, he regained his strength.

They cut up small pieces of paper, and as I read it, Conleigh (Saul) had her hands over her eyes and then let the papers fall. Then they had some water, and Hayden (Ananias), baptised her and then they sat together & ate some goldfish.
Oh, and she put on a hilarious wig to play her part!

Can't wait to hear more of their comments from reading the Bible. Fun!

And, I really can't wait to see a video of the first solo! (Just saw your comment on FB). Adorable I'm sure. (Chant) Post it, Post it, Post it!
