Brave Swimmer!

We have dare devil on our hands. It is almost scary, really. Campbell loves to jump in the pool. Over and over and over. The problem is she doesn't always wait for someone to be there to help her up out of the water. She comes up with a smile and kicks with happiness. She can't wait to get to the side and do it again.

Seussical the Musical

Conleigh, Alex, Campbell and I ventured downtown today to see a kids musical. We went to see Seussical the Musical. Our neighbors, Colin, Caroline (I bet she was the youngest person in the whole place!) and Brittiany Johnson sat right next to us.
The whole theatre was full of kids. It was a perfect performance for us to attend since with the 2 minute intermission, it lasted about 1 hour and 15 minutes. Apparently, the evening performance is a full 2 hours which would have been too much for us. The costumes were outstanding and all the actors/actresses did a terrific job.
The show had all sorts of the Seuss characters with the Cat in the Hat in the middle of the it all. He was a very talented actor with different voices and accents.
Conleigh loved it as I thought she would. I think she can see herself on stage someday. Campbell would clap her hands at just the right time. She sat on my lap the whole time. I loved it. She is getting big and no more babies for us, so I love that she fits just perfectly on my lap. Alex was attentive for a good while too. He is my home-body and towards the end, he was ready to go home.
Afterwards, the characters were out in the lobby. Conleigh and Colin got all sorts of autographs on the playbill. Exciting times!
The event sponsored by Zach Scott Theatre was held at the Texas School for the Deaf, so Conleigh was showing off sign language skills today.

Popsicles, Margaritas, Swimming, Dress-up, & the Wii

What do all those things mean? They mean a full weekend with our friends the Lin's. Kevin & Karri Lin went to Texas Wesleyan with Peter. They have all remained great friends and luckily they let me hang out with them too. Karri, Kevin and their sweet children Ashley (6) and Brandon (4) drove down from the Dallas area to spend a fun weekend with us in Austin.
I didn't take many pictures at all. BOO!
The children had a great time playing together. Among many other activites, they played dress up. We had two princesses, a pirate and spiderman (guess who that was?) running around this house. We made a trip to the pool where Campbell jumped off the diving board. We were all shocked! She loved it! Mommy even did a front flip off the diving board. That was a first in many, many years. Daddy & Alex took their turns on the board as well.
Peter made delicious ribs and chicken Saturday night with popsicles for dessert.
After the kids hit the hay, we kicked back with some marg's and had a chat fest. It was a super fun weekend, and we are making plans to visit them for the State Fair in October.

The Wii was H-O-T on Sunday. Kids played baseball and there were a ton of homeruns (with the help of Kevin). Then Karri, Peter & Kate hit the dance, dance revolution!

ZIP!

Peter & I returned last Thursday night from a fantastic vacation in Costa Rica. We were there with folks from Pearson, the company I've worked for for almost 12 years. Here is a video of my favorite activity of the whole trip. We did the canopy tour and zipped through the rain forest. It was AWESOME!
We are so thankful to the grandparents that carried the load on the home front while we had a relaxing getaway!

Peter & three other husbands went fishing while we sat in meetings. Tough life!

Celebrating the 4th of July

We started off the day with a trip to Krispy Kreme. The kids LOVED eating star shaped donuts with red, white & blue sprinkles. Then we went over to watch the parade. We were spectators this time, but I think next year we'll participate. Later in the afternoon we headed to the pool where the kids enjoyed seeing lots of friends and riding down the water slide and throwing the ball at the dunking booth. After we ate dinner there, we raced home and showered and then raced back to watch the fireworks. They were spectacular! It was a first effort for our neighborhood and the crowd was big and the fireworks even bigger!

Playing Catch Up!

I wanted to post a few pictures of some July 4th fun. I'm just a little behind, so I'll take a few minutes this lazy Saturday afternoon to catch up.

Conleigh really wanted to get out our face painting supplies recently. She did a great job 'decorating' each of us. Alex was a skunk and he really looked like one. She also painted mommy as a cat with a pirate on my cheek & Campbell also got to participate. Conleigh used a mirror and painted her own face too, but she washed it off before I could get a picture. She loves to be artsy!

The post title pretty much explains our time at the Beach House. My parents have been taking my sister & I there for 28 years. It is hard to believe that we are now sharing it with our children. It was a wonderful vacation. Thanks Mom & Dad!
