Trick or Treat!

Are these the cutest little trick-or-treaters or what?
The kids decided early on what they wanted to be for Halloween and there was no deviation. Conleigh was set on being a vampire. And, I do think she made a beautiful vampire. She did her own ~blood~ work on her face and her hair looked great up in a messy clip. I know she liked her costume.
She wasn't mad in this picture. I told her to try to look like a vampire, and this was her expression.
Alex saw the Captain America costume and instantly decided to him. He got so many comments tonight from guys about how cool Captain America is. His mask was a wee bit short and poor guy tripped a couple of times because he couldn't see.
Campbell stuck with her kitty cat costume. One lady tonight said, "oh, are you a tiger?" Campbell took the candy and then very clearly said, "I am not a tiger. I am a kitty cat!"

We went down to some neighbors house and they had their traditional pinata, so the children started out with a good amount of candy. Then we tried en mass to go TorT, but the group was so large. It makes me nervous. With no sidewalks or streetlights, it scares me to have the kids scattered about. I stuck with Campbell and Peter tried to keep up with Conleigh & Alex and their friends.
When Campbell told me her pumpkin was too heavy to carry, I thought we should head home. She added that she was cold. She & I came home and had fun handing out candy to the kids who came to our door.
When the other two came home, they brought home the loot!

It was declared to be the best Halloween ever and teeth were doubly scrubbed before bed.

Hallelujah Hoedown!

The fall festival season is in full swing. I see cake walks galore in our future. We started the festivities tonight at the Hallelujah Hoedown. I took Alex & Conleigh to this festival in 2005 before we even knew Campbell would be among us by the following summer. It is put on by one of the big churches here in Austin. We arrived late, like only 45 minutes left of activities. Peter & Alex had to get soccer practice squeezed in first. Anyway, we had time to...win a cake! Conleigh won again. She won one last year at the Spicewood carnival. I do believe she was wearing the same shirt tonight as she was when she won her other cake walk. She got a beautiful cupcake thing-a-ma-jig. It has 10 fall decorated cupcakes with a larger cake on the inside. Needless to say, we have dug in, and we all give it a thumbs up! Or, a hallelujah-high-five, whatever the case may be.

All the kids also managed to go down the Tsunami slide 3,4,or 8 times. They ate snowcones, and they all got their faces painted (which is now being washed off in the tub). Campbell jumped in the princess bounce house while Conleigh & Alex were cake walking. All that in 45 little minutes. Success! Now, bedtime!

The Silver Bullet

So, another soccer season is upon us. Alex is the team star this season. He nicknamed his silver soccer shoes his Silver Bullets. He had a terrific game today. Only four of the six players were present, so there was a lot of playing time. Peter had to pull Alex out a few times to give the other kids a chance, although Alex isn't too aggressive or a ball hog. He plays with good sportsmanship and is one tough player.

Its Raining - Its Pouring

Was it hot and dry just two weeks ago? Well, the heavens have opened and we are getting a lot of rain. The grass is green and it is growing fast. Yesterday after church the water was rushing down our street. In church clothes and all, we trekked outside and enjoyed the rain. Enjoy!
