Girl Scout Bridging ~ Troop 2267

When I was a wee Girl Scout, there was no Daisy level.  

Daisies now are girls in kinder and first grade.

They work to earn 10 petals around the Daisy center. Some of the topics are:

Taking care of our planet, being a friend to every scout, honesty and caring, keeping myself healthy.

Campbell saying her Girl Scout promise as she crosses the bridge.

Campbell has been in a great group. There are 10 scouts and the moms get along and are pretty low key with everyone stepping up to help when needed.

We no longer have a Daisy in our house. Campbell 'bridged' to Brownies yesterday morning. She recited her Girl Scout promise by herself, learned about what it means to be a Brownie, and indulged in the goodness of sweets bright and early.

By the way, a Brownie is someone who wakes up early and tidies the house, does chores and good deeds without looking for credit. Ahem! I like that and will hold all scouts under the roof to hold tight to that definition.  :)

Mom Proud

At the recent school carnival, there was an auction for 'teacher time.' Teacher time is an opportunity for a child and one friend to spend special one - on - one time with their teacher one day after school.

I bid on teacher time for each child. I figured it was a good way to raise money for the school and for the kids to have a good time having ice cream sundaes with their teachers.  I was outbid on every single one.

To my delight, the winner in each of my children's classes chose my kid to be their friend.  I am so thankful that my children are good friends to all classmates. I have to say that two of the three were a surprise to me.  Alex enjoyed his Sundae time last week and Conleigh and Campbell will be going today and tomorrow after school for ice cream and kite flying (I have a feeling that part will be cancelled because it sure looks like rain is on the way).

I am blessed beyond measure.

Weekend Project

Peter took the kids camping, so I decided to paint. Before, during and after pictures below.

This piece has been sitting in our garage for almost two years. Eek. My sister kindly stripped the old paint off of it a long, long time ago. Since then, it has sat with piles of junk on it.  This week I got the painting itch, so I scratched it, bought a new color of paint, Provence, and here it is!

Happy 40th Peter

 

Yay! Peter is finally 40.

All the members of his district at work kidnapped him and took him to Luby's on his birthday. 

They said that's where old people eat. Ha.

They also supplied him with Depends, Ensure, prunes, and other needs for older folks.

His birthday was Thursday, so I had planned for his closest friends and their families to come for dinner.   We had an italian creme cake made for him and cupcakes for all the kids.

Rudy's BBQ was our entree for the evening and they made it so easy. We had the marg machine crankin' and appetizers. It was a great way to celebrate his 40th.

I used simple brown wrapping paper as the table runner and the kids decorated it with lots of sayings.

The small cupcake in the above picture is a mini carrot cupcake. One of Peter's faves.

Campbell & Ian

The 2nd grade boys spent the evening playing video games.

Randy, Peter, Eric and Greg. These are Peter's closest friends.

 For decorations, we had pictures throughout the house of Peter at all ages. He liked it, and said he hadn't seen some of those pictures in a very long time.

Carnival Time

 Us Austin Hardin's are suckers for a cake walk. 

 Conleigh loves to be  creative with decorating. Above is her creation for this years cake walk.  Chocolate cake with Kit-Kats as a border and filled with M&Ms.  Goo-Gah!

 Campbell loves red velvet. She went simple and added some sprinkles to the top of the cream cheese frosting. A friend of ours chose her cake.

 Alex decorated with a helicopter and fire equipment. I bought a few things at the Dollar Tree and Alex put it together.

 Conleigh and her posse of friends. Not sure why she has such a goofy face. 

 Campbell ran around with her friends. Obviously, they decided to partake in the hair coloring.

Alex had to take off early from the carnival to play ball.  It was a great weekend of baseball. Two wins and Alex earned the game ball on Sunday.
