Happy 40th Peter

Yay! Peter is finally 40.
All the members of his district at work kidnapped him and took him to Luby's on his birthday.
They said that's where old people eat. Ha.
They also supplied him with Depends, Ensure, prunes, and other needs for older folks.

His birthday was Thursday, so I had planned for his closest friends and their families to come for dinner.   We had an italian creme cake made for him and cupcakes for all the kids.
Rudy's BBQ was our entree for the evening and they made it so easy. We had the marg machine crankin' and appetizers. It was a great way to celebrate his 40th.

I love this picture!
I used simple brown wrapping paper as the table runner and the kids decorated it with lots of sayings.
The small cupcake in the above picture is a mini carrot cupcake. One of Peter's faves.

Campbell & Ian

The 2nd grade boys spent the evening playing video games.

Randy, Peter, Eric and Greg. These are Peter's closest friends.

For decorations, we had pictures throughout the house of Peter at all ages. He liked it, and said he hadn't seen some of those pictures in a very long time.

Happy Birthday love!

What a great dad

Her Hero...

And his too...
Alex and Daddy put a shelf under his window (thanks for the location suggestion mom - great spot), so he can put all the Lego sets that he doesn't want messed up there.

And that means,

I get to reclaim the top of my furniture throughout the house. :)

Weekend Getaway

Carlos & Charlie's before noon. Ah, vacation!

Peter and I flew to Paris this past weekend to celebrate 11 years of marriage. It helped that he had won the trip through hard work. We are both thankful for all of the sales reps he works with that helped make the win possible. Thank you!

Here I am at breakfast at Mon Ami Gabi.  I chose a mimosa and eggs benedict.
Peter had crepes with blackberries and peach preserve.
He said they were the best thing he's ever eaten.

Oh, I forgot to mention it was the Paris in Las Vegas.

Pool time.

Peter and I flew in Thursday night and went to Auereole at Mandalay Bay. It is a wine bar where you order and girls are dressed like angels and 'fly' to get your wine in this very, very tall wine case. Unfortunately, we got there too late and the 'angels' had gone home.
Food and champagne were good though.

We loved that both couples we went to Vegas with in the fall were able to join us again. They all came in on Friday afternoon. We went to see Rob Riggle from 21 Jump Street. He was hilarious and we laughed a lot!

Traci was in the chips at the Flamingo on Friday night. We love Roulette.
Saturday afternoon we went downtown. It was good to do that. There is such a different vibe going on and the minimums are lower. Good times.
Prior to our Brad Garrett comedy show, we went to The Wicked Spoon buffet at the Cosmopolitan.
Hello delicious! It was so great! I couldn't help but snap a few pictures of part of the dessert bar.

Here I am enjoying a chocolatopia dessert plate. Happy Anniversary to Peter & me!

About midnight, we took the romantic ride to the top of the Eiffel Tower. 46 stories high. It was really pretty and a great ending to a nice weekend getaway.

Happy Birthday Peter!

Today Peter celebrated #39 (what a youngin'), and we celebrated being done with the dang STAAR test.
We went to dinner at BJ's Brewhouse. The kids loved it.
As for gifts, we gave him a pull up bar that fits in a doorway of the house, some new pants, and two blue-ray DVD's: Star Trek and Gladiator.
My favorite gift for him was something homemade.  After school on Tuesday, the kids got busy making a hand print collage for Daddy.  I had bought a cheap frame and then got some matte cut to fit inside. Then each of the children chose a paint color and we let it rip.
cheap-o frame from, you guessed it, Goodwill.

Gold for Conleigh!

I painted the frame gray today.

Soon Peter will have a real office at work and he said he will be taking this sweet gift with him.

Happy Birthday dear Daddy-O!

Buh-bye!

Well, the days of the Honda Pilot at our house are over.  Thankfully, Peter is okay.  In the midst of morning traffic, right where 183 & Mopac come together, Peter smacked into a minivan who then hit another car. He turned the steering wheel and hit the side of the guardrail. I am so thankful that he is okay. The airbags really took care of him. He has a welt on his left arm, they think from the steering wheel and there was some blood on his right hand. The paramedics really wanted him to go the hospital, but he declined. I made it down to the accident just as they were pulling his car away with the wrecker. We went a short distance and pulled EVERYTHING out of his car. I have a feeling we won't be seeing that car again.

Unfortunately, he just got new brakes YESTERDAY!!!
I believe in airbags!
And on a happier note, I found this cutie pie had done some artistic photography of her own.

Viva Las Vegas

We enjoyed a terrific weekend just the two of us and four friends in Vegas, baby.  The point is there were no children to tend to. We could sleep in, stay out late,  gamble and eat and drink when we wanted. It was an overdue trip for the two of us. It was just a blast.

The Robots. Manton, Traci, Kate, Peter, Karri and Kevin.

After the hilarious comedy show at Brad Garrett's Comedy club we went dancing and then we went to New York, New York and spent some time at the Irish pub and then, we rode the full-on roller coaster.  Hmm. Interesting experience with some brews in the tummy.  We all made it out on the other side.

Oh brother. Check out the girl in the background.

Father Daughter Dance

The men of our church held their first Father/Daughter Dance last Friday night. Peter took his girls. They were excited to dress up and wear some make-up.

Meanwhile, Alex and I got a little mommy/son time. His choice: rent G-Force and sit together to watch it. My sweet boy!

Happy Father's Day!

I'm so thankful for Peter. He is a great Dad for our three kids. Today we did a scanvenger for him for Father's day. He took our clues throughout the house, the backyard and the garage to find gifts along the way.  I think he got a kick out of it and the children really enjoyed the adventure.
Peter reading one of the first clues for his scavenger hunt.
After church, Peter had a hankering for wings, so we ate lunch at Pluckers. Then we made a brief pitstop for kid hair cuts before the scavenger hunt.  This afternoon we spent some time at the pool.  Peter is enjoying himself now with some mindless Wii games.

One of the clues led him to the trampoline.  The surprise there was jelly bellys and a cute card that Alex made.
I'm so thankful for the father he is to our kids. Love you Peter!

Happy Birthday Coach Peter!

How did you spend your birthday Peter?
Why coaching t-ball, of course. The kids did great on the field and Peter enjoyed a round of Happy Birthday from his team afterwards.
Alex earned the game ball that day which was terrific. He got two outs. He'll tell you "one was tagging the runner, and the other was at home plate." Congrats my boy!
Conleigh made Peter a special birthday shirt and here he is wearing the gem. We love you so much Daddy-O!
