Ain't she sweet...

I'm glad she is smiling because you know that hurt.
Friday I had a baby shower while Campbell & Alex were at preschool. What a day to forget my cell phone. They were each going home with friends which helped me not have to cruise out of the luncheon too early. So, I get to Campbell's friends house to pick her up and am greeted by her mom saying, "did you get the message from the school?"

Wow! Poor Campbell got wholloped by a rock! Turns out it was Alex's friend who did the deed. The same friend whose birthday party we celebrated last weekend at Chuck E Cheese. I believe it was an accident but unfortunately didn't get to speak with a teacher to get the full story.

After only 24 hours, it looks a lot better. There is one little spot that we'll have to pay attention to to keep it from scarring. She is one tough cookie, I tell ya.

Soccer Bopper

Go! Gooo ALEX! Alex scored three goals today in the season opener for Team San Francisco Panthers. He played great and stayed with the ball. It will be a super season. I love watching Peter out there coaching too.

Tooth Fairy: Take 1

We've lost a tooth at our house...finally! Conleigh has had a lower wiggly one for a couple of weeks. We knew it was close to coming out. Yesterday she ran out of school and announced that she plucked it out right before PE. She had an envelope ready in her backpack. All smiles. I can't believe it is time for her to be losing teeth. Her new one is already poking through her gums.

So, last night we tucked her tooth into our huge, glow-in-the-dark tooth and put it under her pillow. Oh! The excitement (and I can add now that the glow-in-the-dark feature did not help me at all)!
3:18am
Conleigh (in tears): "Mom. The tooth fairy didn't come."

Mom: "huh, what?"

Conleigh: repeat of above statement

Mom: "Are you sure? Go get the tooth?"

Conleigh runs out of our bedroom, and I thump Peter on the chest. He mumbles something incoherent. Is this really happening at 3:18am?She comes running back in and lo' and behold, tah dah...we open the tooth and...
The tooth fairy came to our house!!!

So there we are at 3:20 in the morning sharing the excitement with Conleigh as she discovers her $2. She went back to bed happily.

Mommy? Not so much. I was up for 2 hours after that.

Wordless Wednesday

Manners

Good or bad, Conleigh has discovered gum. The only problem with this is that I cannot stand gum smackers! My daughter is trying to be a gum smacker. Not. Going. To. Work.
Today I told her more than once to stop chewing with her mouth open. After several reminders, I told her that she was not using her manners. You need to chew with your mouth shut. By doing that, you are using good manners. Her reply, "Mom, who invented manners?" I laughed. She repeated the question.

Manners continued.
Alex went to his second day of preschool today. I asked him how the day was and he told me that they are learning about manners. He taught me two manners tonight.
1. Chew with your mouth closed.
2. Push in your chair.

First day of Gymnastics

All day long Campbell waited for her first gymnastics class. All day long she wanted to know when she got to do gymnastics. Finally, at 4:00, the wait was over. We loaded up and headed to our new gymnastics center.

It was a success! I hate to speak to quickly about it, but Conleigh really enjoyed her class which starts 15 (long to Campbell) minutes before Campbell's class. Conleigh has a funny guy coach. There were 6 girls in her class. She was definitely the most petite. The class is Intermediate 6-8 year olds. She may be the only six year old, not sure. She rocked it out on the bars as usual. She looked totally bored doing ballet footwork on the beam and gave me thumbs up after doing some round-offs off the beam. I hope the excitement continues.

Campbell looked so cute in her two pigtails and the leotard that Conleigh was wearing last summer. I could tell she was working hard on her straddles and somersaults. She was sweating when she came out of the class and was ready for some water. I saw her coach try to help her do a cartwheel, so in the car, I told her that maybe Conleigh could help her with her cartwheel. Campbell replied "I don't need any help."
Alex was so good during gymnastics classes. I think he liked the time with mama. We bought Mario Kart for the Wii today, so he had loved playing that this afternoon. He loved showing up Mommy playing it today and then dualed with Daddy tonight. Peter & I even played after the kids went to bed.
The Hardin men in deep thought on Mario Kart. It must be genetic that you have to have your tongue out to the side of your mouth when you are thinking. :)

Take me out to the ballgame...

It's the end of the Round Rock Express season. Peter landed the Sysco suite tickets for Sunday night. We invited our friends the Garretts to join us and had a great time.
Beer, hot dogs, cotton candy, beer, room for the kids to roam and air conditioning if you wanted it. Can't beat that on the way to watch a ball game.

The game was moving at a good clip and then the 9th ended in a 2-2 tie. We stayed through the 13th inning and then called it quits. We all wanted to see the fireworks but come on...I read that the Express did pull out a 3-2 win in the end.

Alex took his glove to the game and really had wanted to catch a ball. We may trek to Houston this weekend for the last of the home games of the Astros. None of us have ever been to Minute Maid park, tickets are cheap and Alex has baseball on the brain.
