The rain held off on Friday and we got to have our kick-off swim meet. Each swimmer only swims one race & the goal is just to get a time, so the seeds for meet #1 can be set. The Hardin crew has set themselves up to win some heat ribbons in the first meet. Conleigh & Alex each got last in their heats.
Campbell got 2nd out of 3. It was wild. Campbell worked so hard down the lane & then she got to where she could stand up and she did. She is so proud that she can stand up in the pool this year and not be under water. We need to teach her that she cannot do that during the swim meet. :)
Alex's goggles fell off as he dove (fell) into the water. He basically swam the length of the pool blind. He kept running into the lane rope. It was painful to watch the poor kid. He ended up 7th of 8 swimmers his age. He is definitely better than that. We got him some new goggles this weekend and are going to work on tucking his head as he dives (falls) into the pool. Conleigh swam a great race. Her stroke is really pretty. Her stamina the last 10 yards just isn't quite there yet, and she got 4th in her heat of 4 lanes. There are about 20, no kidding, girls in her age group & she landed 8th overall.
We're excited for the season. After the meet, it was playtime & socializing in the pool.
Isn't this what it is all about? Alex & his bud Matthew.
We trucked it home on the golf cart just ahead of the rain, got showered & ate Sonic for dinner. Great evening.
