Can you say cake walk?
Our family volunteered to bring two cakes for the Spicewood carnival today. I made a simple chocolate with chocolate icing ditty. For the other more creative cake, Daddy & Conleigh went to work. Conleigh had a pink panther on her brain. Actually, Woody, the not no pink panther is the school mascot. She wanted to make a cake with Woody on it.

After mixing icing colors, Daddy quickly decided a Panther would be too hard and he convinced Conleigh that a butterfly would be the perfect cake. It wasn't hard to convince her, she loves butterflies. Here is the final product.
The library was FILLED with cakes. Peter's rough estimate is 300 cakes covering all of the tables in the library. We made a family decision at home that if the girls won the cake walk, we chose the cake and vice-versa.

And, the cake walk. I figured we had great odds of winning if we covered four numbers of the 12 total. What is that? 4/12, take it to the lowest common denominator, 1/3! Yay! (Maybe I'll be able to help Conleigh with 2nd grade math!).
Round #1:
No luck.Let's go find some other stuff to do. The local band of middle schooler's, High on Hot Dogs were playing. They are actually very good. We heard them this summer at the pool too.
Here is Alex doing the Catapult. They had buckets full of tennis balls. The kids sat in this contraption and pulled down the tennis ball and bang, it flew!
Oh yeah, we went to the hair paint booth too.

Cake Walk: round #2: We have a WINNER! After convincing Conleigh that Daddy could make another butterfly cake, she passed on bringing home the same cake we took up there, and chose a yellow cake w/chocolate icing.
And, the whole family left happy, full and tired!
