We started off the morning going to the Farmer's Market here in North Austin. It was so nice outside and the market was really nice too. We bought some peaches and were taste testers at quite a few booths. I'm sure we'll go back.
Next we went to the shadiest park we could think of. The kids rode their bikes all around and we played on the equipment. It was a good way to run around on a beautiful day. It was noon by now but we continued our adventure and headed downtown to the Habitat for Humanity ReStore. We went in search of a chandelier for Conleigh's room (thanks for the idea Monika). We found just what we were looking for. Picture coming soon. Conleigh, our resident artist, also found all sorts of 'junk' that she thought would make good art. I'm talking faucet handles, random metal used somehow in kitchens, towel bars. She was ready to use her own money to buy said junk. I finally just had to say no. That is the last thing she needs to add to her room...random recycled home goods.
Next stop South Congress. It was bustling with people especially considering the Horns were playing their first game of the season. We ate lunch at the Mighty Cone trailer. I love it. Fancy food served in an sno cone cup. I had the shrimp & avocado cone, so did Peter. Campbell had a venison hot dog which was cut, served w/a tortilla, cole slaw and fancy mustard in a sno cone cup. Needless to say, she did not even taste it. Conleigh & Alex got sliders. They were delicious too.
Sometime during the summer Alex got to go on an outing with his friend Bishop to
Lucy in Disguise, a costume shop on South Congress. He spotted it from our lunch table and wanted us to go there. I can't believe we've lived in Austin for 11 years and haven't been there. It is a costume-wonderland. The most exciting thing Alex wanted to show us was this back room full of kids costumes. If you walk to the end of this one aisle, and one person stands at one end and talks in a normal voice, you cannot hear what they are saying at the other end of the aisle. With 1000 costumes lining the aisle, the floor carpeted & the ceiling foamed, the sounds are muffled. It doesn't come across great in writing but it was pretty cool. Moving right along, the kids went to trying on funny shoes.
Then we walked up to Big Top Candy, filled up a couple of bags & headed for home.
This station must be the live music station since Alex is busy singing and playing the accordian.
Campbell lost interest in the whole TV thing. She is a live stage kind of girl.

Conleigh cracked me up with her whole Dora the Explorer station. She sang all the songs nd knew all the famous Dora quotoations (she used a Mr. Potato Head as Dora and a smaller potato as Boots. I told her it was so funny that she knew all that and she said, "I watched that show a million times."
