Roomates

Alex & Campbell

When Granny stayed with us while recovering from her burns, Campbell bunked in Alex's room. We kept our crib mattress, so it came in quite handy. Granny has now been gone for five nights. Guess who is still bunkin' together?

Campbell & Alex

It is so sweet because they both want the other one there. I think they are both sleeping better and longer too!

Peter even mentioned the possibility of bunk beds to them this weekend and they were both thrilled.

A morning hug plus ~~ with Campbell

Nothing beats a tight hug around the neck in the morning. Campbell came up and hugged my neck tight this morning. I was holding her tight and soaking it all in.

toot, toot

Mommy: "Campbell, do you have birds in your bottom?"

Campbell: "tweet, tweet."

First day of Preschool...

is finally here!

Campbell and Alex were both so excited to go to school. Alex knew right where his classroom was and Campbell was the first one in her room.

Alex has loved his time at Spicewood Country School. I'm sure it is just an adjustment but he said his teacher wasn't nice and all the others were. I know this teacher runs a tight ship. Hopefully, things will smooth out and fun will be had by all. Boys will be boys, right?

Campbell was happy to tell me about Keira and Ava. She also met a new friend Hannah. "She liked me a lot," Campbell announced on the way home.

I picked up the preschool crew at 1:15 and at 2:45 we picked up Conleigh at the appointed meeting place, bike racks. I thought today was Grandparents lunch, so I sent Peter to eat with Conleigh because I was at her girl scout parent org meeting. Oops. That's next week. I think she was happy & proud to have her dad at school with her. And, she told me tonight, "I didn't even cry."

We finished the evening with a great happy hour get together with three other neighborhood families. It was really nice to chill, drink a few beers, eat pizza and let the kids play together. Ages fourth grade to three years old all found their own fun.

Happy Birthday to me!

What a wonderful day! Peter took great care of me today and tried super hard to make sure I enjoyed the day. I did. It was a super success honey. Thank you.

I went to church this morning to help set up for rally Sunday tomorrow. While I was there, Peter took the kids out for some birthday shopping. They arrived home after me with a beautiful bouquet of pink roses. They smell delightful.

I took the children to the pool while Peter tended to him mother here at our home. Then he met us up there for a bit. From there, I took a nap with Alex lying beside me watching Jungle Book. I woke up to gifts and cards. Conleigh picked out some hip purple earrings for me and they also got me a membership to the YMCA. I'm thrilled about that!

This evening our family went to Kobe Steakhouse. We lucked out and sat with a nice family with young children. Our kids were excited to have Shirley Temples to drink. Campbell wasn't quite sure of the show and fire, but she liked the rice, as usual. Conleigh surprised me with her willingness to try the sauces and the soup. She also did well using her chopstix. Alex cracked me up. He tasted his plain white rice and asked me if we could ask the restaurant for the recipe so we could make the rice at home. Peter & I had some sushi to start and then I ordered shrimp. It was very good, but I was full before the plate was empty.

We headed home. There was the most beautiful sunset this evening, so we stood on the driveway admiring all of the colors. Chocolate cake with chocolate icing was the order of the day for birthday cake. Daddy did good.

I can't think of a better way to spend my birthday.

Afternoon Fun

We've had silly string in our cabinet all summer. The plan had been to use it the first day of summer. Well, summer has come and gone and there sat the silly string. We pulled it out and the kids went to town on each other. Here's the fun.

The city says we cannot water our lawn with our sprinkler system except on Saturday. As long as we are holding the hose, we can water whenever we want. What better excuse for some water fun in the backyard.

Convo with Alex

Alex: "Mom, if you marry me, I'll give you all my money."

Mom: "Wow, Alex. That is very nice of you. How much money do you have?"

Alex: "Mom, how about tomorrow you and I count it. It's in my piggy bank."
