Schools Out for Summer!

We have a 1st grader in the house! I said, "We have a PROUD first grader in the house!" Conleigh got her final report card today. She did great and is definitely ready for first grade. She also had perfect attendance this last term which is awesome because that means we got her to school on time every day this last 45 days which is a miracle! Conleigh was a hoola-hoopin' whiz at the park today.

The kindergarteners went to a local park for a celebration today. Parents were invited, so Alex & I headed over. Alex quickly found a friend and they were off and sweating. They provided cookies for the kinder kids. Check out this hilarious picture. Alex was pretty mad that he didn't got a cookie. Never fear, mommy took him to the mall afterwards and got him his own frosted cookie.
To celebrate the end of school, we had a Happy Hour and Hotdog Summer Kick-Off Celebration at our house this evening. We invited over 6 neighbor families. There were 10 adults and 11 kids, I think. We did it pot-luck style and had plenty of food and 'dogs. Peter had his homebrew beer outside. All the kids had a great time running around and it was a great summer party!
After the crowd went home, we loaded up the car and took the kids to Sonic for free root-beer floats! The parking lot was full but we found a parking spot and got the fastest service we ever have at Sonic. WE LOVE ROOT BEER FLOATS!

"Daddy, we found your wedding ring!"

These are the words Alex proudly said to Peter this afternoon. The wedding ring has been missing for about a month. Peter vaguely remembers being asleep on our bed and our own little swiper came and snagged his ring. He was out-of-it enough to not be able to get up and follow Campbell, I mean swiper. So for a month it has been missing in our house along with my palm pilot.
I had given up on finding my palm and had actually shopped last week for a new phone that has a calendar on it. Lo and behold, right before we left for the lake on Friday afternoon, Alex walked up and handed me my palm pilot. I was so happy and was kissing him all over and thanking him (it had been hidden behind the couch). Daddy then made the offer that when his wedding ring was found we would all go for ice cream sundaes, anything goes.
Well, tonight was that night! This afternoon while Alex played in his room, he dipped his hand down into a toy bucket and the ring slid onto his thumb. Alex was ecstatic and couldn't wait to call daddy. Tonight we celebrated at the new Baskin Robbins.
Our Campbell is something else. She is one cute and independent little girl. One minute she is innocently playing and the next she is wandering off with rings and palm pilots. God love her. I sure do.

Alex has a rash everywhere we put sunscreen on him this weekend. His lower legs, forearms, neck are rash-y and his cheeks are beet red. He is itching. He just came out from his bed to report another spot that has an itch. I told Peter I was going to give him some Benadryl. Alex and I go to the bathroom. I pour the medicine into a little drinking cup. He picks it up and says, "Do I drink this or do I pour it all over myself?"

A Memorable Memorial Day Weekend

We are home in Austin after a terrific weekend at Cedar Creek lake near Corsicana. Our friends, the Lin's met us there. For real, this was the last time we got together before they are Californians. They are on a real countdown to the west coast.
It was the best time at the lake yet even with a trip to the ER at the Gun Barrel City clinic. Conleigh went downhill during the day on Saturday and by the early evening she was in bed, running a fever and pretty lethargic...just like when she had strep about two months ago. We decided she needed to see a doctor, so I took her. About four hours later, she got two shots in her bo-bo (as the nurse called it) and we went home. She was a brand new girl today. We have 5 days of antibiotics follow-up. Hopefully, Ashley, Brandon, Alex & Campbell escaped strep contamination. Time will tell.
The fun parts of the weekend were boating, a little fishing and swimming. The weather was perfect, and we ate all kinds of pot stickers! Yum-O!


Peter & I got in the water with the kids. We wore our life vests upside down like diapers. It is a great way to float and not have it all around your neck. Here are two funny pictures of us wearing our diapers.

Trophy Time & Bowling!

Conleigh & Alex are done with their soccer seasons. They each had a terrific time and I think they plan to play again. Peter & I had little trophies made for them and presented the trophies at dinner on Saturday night. Both kids were SO excited. Alex has created a shrine in our living room with medals and trophies.

My parents were here with us for the weekend. We decided to relive some of my childhood Saturday nights and go bowling! The kids have been asking to go bowling since Peter & I went a few weeks ago with friends. We all had a great time! Even Campbell kept giving us the thumbs up. She walked with such sass and confidence to roll her ball down the alley. They put the bumper guards up on the kids lane, so that it made it much more fun.
